Alaska's unemployment rate dipped slightly in September, hitting 7.6 percent.

That compares to 7.7 percent in July and August. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 7.9 percent in Alaska in September 2010.

The state labor department says Alaska has more than recovered what it calls the state's relatively small loss of jobs due to the U.S. recession. It says preliminary estimates indicate that 3,700 jobs have been added in the state over the last year.

U.S. unemployment stood at 9.1 percent in September.
