The female driver allegedly invovled in an exchange of gunfire with an Alaska Wildlife Trooper is now facing several criminal charges.
Alaska State Troopers announced Thursday evening that an arrest warrant was issued for Tonee M. Walker, 58, of Anchor Point.
AST says Walker is facing one count of attempted murder in the first degree, four counts of assault in the third degree and one count of reckless driving.
Tonee was arrested following her release from the hospital and transported to the jail in Anchorage.
According to a trooper dispatch on the incident, Trooper Trent Chwialkowski saw the woman driving erratically in the northbound lane of the Sterling near Happy Valley. He tried to make a traffic stop, but the woman only stopped briefly and fired on him, at which point he shot back at her.
Troopers found the Walker's vehicle stopped near Mile 147, and discovered that she had been shot in the torso. Walker was initially treated in Homer, then taken to the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage.
AST spokesperson Megan Peters says Chwialkowski has been with the troopers since February 2008.
