A Fort Greely Army police officer died on-duty Thursday, according to military officials, and the U.S. honor flag arrived in Anchorage Sunday afternoon.

Officials said that 53-year-old Georg “Mike” Greaser passed away due to natural causes, but the exact of death has yet to be determined. He was taken to the Family Medical Center in Delta Junction early Thursday evening and was later pronounced dead by a local physician.

Greaser was originally from Anchorage and served at Fort Greely for nearly three years and was a retired Navy veteran with honors, according to military officials.

The U.S. flag traveled to Alaska in 2010 to honor two Hoonah police officers killed in the line of duty.
