A 21-year-old snowmachine driver was arrested after allegedly leading military police on a chase through Fort Wainwright.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that Richard Wayne Robinson III is facing charges of felony assault and felony failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer. The assault charge is based on police allegations that Robinson, who is a civilian, tried to ram a police vehicle with his snowmachine.
Police say when they arrived Sunday at the airfield Robinson was ordered to stop. But they say he took off instead and led them on a chase in which he drove his snowmachine between 55 and 65 mph.
Police say the chase ended when Robinson and his passenger tried to flee on foot.
