Four public meetings are being held this week on a proposal to move Eielson Air Force Base's F-16 aircraft in Fairbanks to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage.
The first of the meetings is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer.
Meetings also are scheduled to take this week at:
Monday, Feb. 4 – 6:00 – 9:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 5 – 6:00 – 9:30 p.m.
Tyson Elementary School, 2801 Richmond Ave, Anchorage, AK
Wednesday, Feb. 6 – 12:00 – 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 – 9:30 p.m.
Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge, Edgewater and Jade Rooms, 4477 Pikes Landing Road, Fairbanks, AK
Thursday, Feb. 7 - 6:00 – 9:30 p.m.
North Pole High School, 601 North Pole High School Boulevard, North Pole, AK
The military is proposing moving 18 F-16 aircraft and three backup aircraft, as well as support and maintenance airmen in order to save money. The move would require that hundreds of military personnel be transferred to JBER and the elimination of 81 positions.
