Before Alaska voters decide if Sen. Mark Begich deserves another term, Republicans will head to the polls in August to pick which candidate has the best chance of unseating the incumbent Democrat.

Begich has three announced opponents: Joe Miller, a Fairbanks lawyer who won the 2010 GOP nomination for U.S. Senate, former Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Dan Sullivan and Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell.

In a candidate forum hosted by the Alaska Press Club and moderated by KTUU's Steve Mac Donald, Alaskans will get to know the GOP candidates better. Begich was invited to the event but declined to participate.

Instead of questions coming from media, people from all over the state asked candidates about their take on important issues. Questions were submitted on Twitter, and KTUU reporters collected questions in the field.

The hour-long forum airs April 25 at 7 p.m. on KTUU and will be broadcast by other media organizations around the state.
