On Monday, Jeffrey Vancamp, 53 of Anchorage, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for distributing child pornography.

Two separate incidents led to the discovery that Vancamp had used the screen name “poetryman1232005” to distribute child pornography and had not directly harmed any children in Alaska.

In March 2011, an Alabama sheriff contacted the Anchorage Police Department to report that a person with the screen name “poetryman1232005” was online chatting with an online persona of a 15-year-old. Vancamp sent child porn images and asked the persona to engage in explicit sexual acts during the online chat.

In April 2011, a Seward woman contacted APD to report that a man with the screen name “poetryman1232005” had sent her images of child pornography.

APD conducted an investigation and traced the screen name to Vancamp and found that he had distributed child pornography to thousands of people through online chatting.
