UPDATE: The Anchorage Police Department have identified the deceased female found as 62-year-old Marie Andrews. The APD Homicide Detectives continue their investigation and encourage anyone with information to call APD at (907) 786-8900.

Anchorage police say the body found Thursday afternoon in Mountain View appears to be an Alaska Native woman in her fifties.

According to APD, the woman's body was found against a fence in a lightly wooded area near the intersection of Ames Street and Mountain View Drive, near the Mountain View Community Church. A group of people walking through the area made the discovery at about 1:30 p.m.

Police say the woman did not have any identification on her, and they still don’t know her name or how she died.

The Mountain View body is the second woman found dead outside in Anchorage this week, following Wednesday's discovery of 24-year-old Michelle Felber's body in a wooded area near the intersection of Dowling Road and Quinhagak Street.

“We don’t have any indication these two deaths are related in any way,” said APD spokesperson Anita Shell.

Felber’s family reported her missing Monday, after they hadn't seen her for two months. APD doesn’t yet know how or where Felber died.
