ANCHORAGE, Alaska—Anchorage police are looking for a man in connection with a stabbing in Mountain View early Sunday morning.
According to APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker, a resident of the 800 block of North Flower Street called police at about 2:30 a.m. after a middle-aged man pounded on the door. The caller thought the man -- 56-year-old Thomas Atkinson Jr. -- was having a heart attack, but medics discovered that he had been stabbed multiple times in the back.
Parker says an arrest warrant on charges of second-degree and fourth-degree assault, with bail set at $25,000, has been issued for 21-year-old Richard Smith. He is an Alaska Native male with brown hair and brown eyes who stands 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 155 to 160 pounds.
Anyone with information on Smith’s whereabouts or the stabbing is asked to call APD at 786-8900.
