Kara Moriarty couldn't define meaningful when asked during a Senate Finance Committee hearing, saying she has a diverse membership and the individual companies have their own views of that. But she said none of the member companies thought the Senate bill would improve their economics. She said a bracketed approach to progressivity would make Alaska more competitive when it comes to attracting investment dollars.
Gov. Sean Parnell proposed taxing different portions of the production tax value at increasing incremental levels. But Senate Finance co-chair Bert Stedman said bracketing would simply shift more cash to industry.
