The Anchorage Police Department is looking for a man who is a person of interest in critically injuring a local woman in Midtown on Monday morning.

Police are currently searching for Bukurim Miftari, 21, after he was seen in the area of Old Seward Highway and Grange Street. Miftari fled after police attempted to make contact with him, according to a press release.

Miftari is thought to be on foot and is considered armed and dangerous, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 immediately.

APD Sgt. Gerard Asselin said a passerby called police saying there was an abandoned vehicle on Fairbanks Street near its intersection with International Airport Road shortly before 6 a.m. Police found blood in the vehicle and in the roadway, as well as 30-year-old Kristen Reid unconscious nearby, Asselin said.

APD spokesperson Anita Shell said Reid was taken to a hospital and is in critical condition. Asselin said she had an injury to the head, but did not release any additional details on her condition; no updates on her condition have since been provided by APD.

Shell said the suspicious vehicle found in the middle of the street was a dark blue Chevy Tahoe.

Police temporarily limited access north of Fairbanks Street during their investigation.
