Dan Coffey, a former Anchorage Assemblyman, has been accused of violating state lobbyist disclosure laws and a campaign finance law, according to the Alaska Public Offices Commission.

APOC staff submitted a complaint last Thursday alleging that Coffey failed to register as a lobbyist in November 2011 and January 2012 before being contracted with the Municipality of Anchorage to lobby for the Port of Anchorage.

APOC also alleged that Coffey made multiple campaign contributions to state legislative candidates outside the district where he lives, which may have been during his time as lobbyist, which violates campaign finance laws.

Coffey would have to refund nearly $9000 in contributions if APOC determines that he should have registered as a lobbyist.

Coffey has until Dec. 28 to answer the complaint with any supporting documents.
