GLACIER BAY NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE, Alaska—Authorities at Glacier Bay National Park in Southeast Alaska are warning campers about bear activity in the West Arm.
They say the bear maintained eye contact with the camper, who stood their ground. The bear eventually left toward the glacier but returned about five hours later.
Again, the campers stood their ground when the bear advanced a few steps. The bear then picked up their kayak with its teeth, but dropped it when the campers yelled and batted around sealed cans on its exit.
An advisory is in effect until July 25.
