Anchorage police have released the name of a man who was severely injured when he was shot in the leg Tuesday afternoon, prompting a major search of the Midtown area for a suspect in the incident.
APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker says Charles Sherrill Jr., 39, remains in critical condition Wednesday.
Witnesses told Channel 2 Tuesday that they heard three to four shots on 42nd Avenue, between Dale and Piper streets, at about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday. Sherrill was able to call 911 and report the shooting, at which point numerous APD units responded to the scene.
According to Parker the shooting remains under investigation, and detectives will release more information as they’re able to do so.
