Anchorage police are looking for a woman suspected of stealing identities as well as credit cards in numerous local financial crimes.
APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker says 45-year-old Joanna Lee Stanley is wanted on three arrest warrants on charges including three counts of second-degree forgery, two counts each of second-degree theft and scheme to defraud, and one count each of criminal impersonation and issuing a bad check.
The total bail on Stanley’s warrants comes to $280,000, with a court-approved third-party as well as electronic monitoring required for release.
Stanley is using stolen identities and credit cards to check into hotel rooms, then host “over-the-top” drug parties.
“This is one of the most prolific criminals operating in Anchorage,” Financial Crimes Unit detective Clint Thomas wrote in a statement Friday. “No Credit Card is safe when she is in a store, as she tries to copy the number down or outright steal them.”
Stanley is a Caucasian woman, standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds. While she has blond hair and brown eyes, she is described as very able to change her personal appearance, as shown in a series of Department of Motor Vehicles photos released by APD. Her identifying marks include a flower-like tattoo on her right ankle and a surgical scar on her right arm.
Anyone who sees Stanley should call APD at 786-8900.
