A Kiana man featured in an award-winning film is missing after the death of his 74-year-old mother.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, Alaska State Troopers say there has been no sign of 45-year-old Teddy Kyle Smith since he vanished from his home in Kiana on Friday night.

Smith is known for his role as a protective Inupiaq father in the award-winning film "On the Ice."

Troopers say Kiana's village public safety officer reported Friday that Smith had fired a gun, sending at least four people running for cover. He has been charged with four counts of assault. He is not accused in the death of his mother.
