A 55-year-old Fairbanks man has been indicted by a federal grand jury in a murder-for-hire plot.
The U.S. attorney's office in Anchorage says in a release that Eric Donald Grabber is accused of having someone travel from Alaska to Indianapolis on Dec. 29 to kill someone in either Indiana or Michigan.
The intended victim is identified in court documents as "G.L.C. Jr." Payment was to be $40,000.
Prosecutors say on Jan. 3, Grabber made a cellphone call to make sure the plot was being carried out.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Bottini told the Associated Press by email that Grabber was arrested Thursday in Fairbanks and is in custody.
An arraignment is scheduled in U.S. District Court in Fairbanks Friday afternoon. Bottini tells Channel 2 that a further hearing in the case is likely next week.
