A Fairbanks man accused of crashing his father's sports car through a fence and onto the frozen Chena River on New Year's Day has been charged.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says court records indicate that 29-year-old Joshua Matthew Beane has been charged with reckless driving and failing to notify police of the accident. He was not seriously injured, even though his father's car landed upside down on the river.
Charging documents say that Beane told police he had several drinks on the night of Dec. 31 before going to sleep for several hours. When he awoke, he told police he believed he was sober and decided to drive home.
Beane said he wasn't sure how he ended up in the accident. His father found him walking home.
