On Friday, another person involved in a “cooperative venture” to sell marijuana from Alaska to Arizona was sentenced in federal court in Fairbanks.

23-year-old Johnathon Butterfield, of Tucson, Arizona and formerly of Fairbanks, Alaska received three years in federal prison for two counts of drug trafficking.

Butterfield pleaded guilty to conspiracy and also to one count of manufacturing a drug. He admitted to growing more than 500 hundred marijuana plants intended to sale.

The court also said that Butterfield had possessed handguns and ammunition in connection with the commercial operation.
