ANCHORAGE, Alaska—
A 32-year-old Anchorage man will spend 57 months in a federal prison on a weapons violation.
The U.S. attorney's office says in a Thursday release that Charles Wiley Smith was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Anchorage.
Prosecutors say that on October 28, 2011, Smith pistol-whipped a woman, and when police tried to arrest him, he shot at them.
He was not allowed to possess weapons after a felony conviction in 2000, when he shot at people sitting on the front stairs on an apartment building.
