An Anchorage man was sentenced in federal court Tuesday for his involvement in an Anchorage drug distribution conspiracy, according to U.S. Attorney Karen Loeffler.
Kelvin Washington, 51, also known as "Special K," was sentenced to 96 months in prison and three years of supervised release for his role in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine throughout Anchorage. He was also sentenced an additional 24 months in prison for a probation violation from a prior conviction for another drug distribution conspiracy. The two sentences will be served consecutively, totaling 120 months in prison.
Washington and his co-conspirator made several sales of crack cocaine out of their Anchorage apartment to an undercover informant working for the Anchorage Police, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Kelly Cavanaugh who prosecuted the case.
Police searched the residence and found more crack cocaine and powder cocaine, as well as two firearms and nearly $10,000 in cash. A total of 26 grams of crack cocaine and 68 grams of powder cocaine was recovered during the search and through controlled sales.
