A 65-year-old woman told police that she was attacked after answering the door to her Anchorage home.
The woman told police that the last thing she remembers is responding to a knock on the door of her Airports Heights home on Tuesday. The Anchorage Daily News reports that the woman was treated for injuries at a local hospital.
Police say the woman's purse was rifled through and a small amount of cash and a credit card are missing.
APD spokesperson Anita Shell told Channel 2 Thursday that the woman was still hospitalized after the attack, which occurred at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Shell says she will require reconstructive facial surgery, and still doesn't remember much about the attack.
According to APD, the attack isn't believed to have been drug-related.
