A 50 year-old man has died Wednesday after he was stabbed in the abdomen at the Inlet Inn downtown Tuesday night, according to Anchorage police.
APD says Andrew Wilson was found bleeding in the hallway of the inn by the desk clerk, who then called police. Wilson was taken to a local hospital and went straight into surgery but succumbed to his wounds, according to APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker.
After questioning several people, police arrested Jackie Adams, a 50 year-old man, for the assault.
APD says it learned that Adams and Wilson were with a group of people who were drinking in one of the hotel rooms, when a fight over hotel charges escalated.
Police say at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, a dispute broke out between Wilson and Adams, who was renting the room with his girlfriend, Joyce Kirkpatrick.
Witnesses told police that the hotel charges extra for each additional guest who stays in the room after 10 p.m.
Police say Adams did not want to pay for Wilson being in his room, and kicked him out.
Police say after Wilson was removed from the room, he began banging on the door, and Adams allegedly stabbed him.
Adams was initially charged with first-degree assault and his bail was set at $25,000 plus a court-approved third party custodian.
