A 23-year-old male suspect is being sought by Anchorage police in a West Anchorage shooting Tuesday night which left another man in critical condition.
APD spokesperson Anita Shell says felony warrants on assault and weapons-misconduct charges have been issued for Sabre Layne Pearl, who also faces existing warrants for scheme to defraud, theft and fraud.
Shell says the shooting occurred during a visit by Pearl to the home of a woman he knew, in an apartment on the 2800 block of West International Airport Road.
“According to witnesses at the residence, Pearl got into a verbal argument with another guest, identified as Eric Hammon, 31, of Anchorage,” Shell wrote in a Wednesday statement on the case. “The argument turned physical and ended with someone discharging a can of pepper spray in the apartment and Sabre producing a handgun and shooting Hammon multiple times in the lower torso.”
Hammon was hospitalized by responding medics, while Pearl is believed to have departed in a light blue minivan. APD describes Pearl as standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes.
Police also want to speak with Pearl’s girlfriend, 20-year-old Marissa Quimby-Hayes, who may have witnessed the shooting and be traveling with him. Hayes stands 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds; she has brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information on Pearl or Quimby-Hayes’ whereabouts is asked to call APD at 786-8900 or Crimestoppers at 561-STOP.
