A home disturbance Tuesday night resulted in a Bethel police officer fatally shooting a man, according to Alaska State Troopers.

AST said Bethel police responded to a disturbance at a home in Bethel an officer shot and killed an adult male. Details behind the disturbance and shooting were not released during the initial investigation.

The Bethel Police Department requested assistance from troopers around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday and three Bethel based troopers assisted in securing the scene.

On Wednesday morning, the Alaska Bureau of Investigators arrived and were in the processing the scene.

The name of the man has yet to be released until next of kin is notified and the body will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage for autopsy.

The Bethel Police Department will release the name of the officer at later date according to its department policy.
