Tok High School Student Arrested on Drug Charge

TOK, Alaska—

A Tok High School student has been arrested after allegedly selling marijuana at school.

Alaska State Troopers in an online post say they were alerted by faculty at the school.

Troopers say the youth sold marijuana to at least two other students, and was taken Thursday to a youth facility in Fairbanks.

The youth and two other juveniles all face charges of misconduct involving a controlled substance.

Tok, a community of 1,258 residents, is located 200 miles southeast of Fairbanks.

I perceive that this issue is a product of our failing society. This individual is a symptom of our failings as a community. It's a wake up call. Playing the blame game, finger pointing and doling out heaps of immediate capital punishment will not correct the issue, ever.

It's ok to be emotional - youth straying into crime is unfortunate. Once you've calmed down, take a step back and please look at the big picture - what kind of society grows this type of personality? Ours.

Here are some suggestions to combat this epidemic: Turn off your TV and pay attention to your kids. Encourage your friends and peers to do the same. Get involved in your community. Volunteer. Work for a living. Educate yourself. Give instead of constantly consuming. Deny instant gratification. Endeavor to improve the lives of others. Forgive people that screw up - we all do it. Find a spiritual practice and stick with it. Vote.

Getting better at these example challenges and giving others a chance to do the same is a life long practice. Arm chair quaterbacking, complaining about what you don't have, or generally blaming is not a productive practice. Abandon negativity, it's scientifically proven to make people unhappy. Take action with that energy instead by getting involved. Compassion can get us out of this mess, not condemnation.

This isnt the first time drugs have been sold at the Tok School and it will not be the last.

This kid needs to be sent to jail for a while and serve some time for his actions.

I know this kid and he has no respect for his parents or anything else and has always had the attitude I am who I am and I cant be touched im too good. When kids have money and no way to show how it was earned it usually is earned by theivery and sale of dope in which case this one has a track record of both now.

People would like to blame parents this is a lot of BS Parents need to be able to take things into their own hands and teach disclipine and morals to kids more then ever now.Punishment for a bad acting or disrespectful child is not allowed and considered abuse by modern day standards. If more parents and teachers had the means and ways to punish those who do bad things i believe that things would improve.

As long as there is no punishment for the deed kids and others will have no reason to straighten up their life and become productive members of society

Selling dope at a school is a BAD CRIME no matter if you are a kid or adult the person who sells DOPE needs to be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law
