ANCHORAGE, Alaska—
A 65-year-old West Virginia man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for traveling to Alaska with intent to engage in a sexual act with a child under the age of 12.
The U.S. Attorney's office in Anchorage says Thomas Daniel Niswander of Princeton was sentenced Friday.
Prosecutors say a Homeland Security agent contacted Niswander in an Internet chat room as Niswander solicited information about traveling to Cambodia for a "kiddie hunt."
Niswander instead arranged to fly to Alaska. Prosecutors say he was taped at an Anchorage airport expecting to be set up with a 9-year-old girl. His contact was an undercover agent.
Prosecutors say children's toys, a video camera and sexual paraphernalia were found in his luggage and child pornography was found on Niswander's laptop computer.
