Former Anchorage Assembly member Dan Coffey must pay more than $12,000 in penalties to the Alaska Public Offices Commission.
According to the agreement between Coffey and APOC, Coffey must pay the penalties because he failed to register as a lobbyist, failed to submit reports and made prohibited contributions to legislative candidates.
The agreement says Coffey's failure to file was based on not knowing what was required of him, and was not an intentional act to avoid the requirements.
