Delta Air Lines says it will fly seasonal direct flights between Anchorage and the company’s primary hub in Atlanta, Ga. for more than two months this summer, becoming the latest airline to expand its Anchorage service.
According to Delta spokesperson Lindsay McDuff, the flights will begin June 21 and end Aug. 31. Tickets for the new flights went on sale at Delta’s website last weekend.
The airline says the seven-hour Anchorage-Atlanta route will be flown daily in each direction by a Boeing 757 airliner, with 24 seats available in first class as well as 21 seats in the airline’s Economy Comfort class and 135 economy seats. Flight 1776 from Atlanta is scheduled to depart for Anchorage at 3 p.m. Eastern time, while Flight 1785 will leave Anchorage for Atlanta at 7:30 p.m. Alaska time.
When asked about promotions on the route, McDuff said the airline doesn’t comment on pricing. A Channel 2 reservations search with Delta Monday afternoon for a round-trip June 21 direct flight from Atlanta to Anchorage, flying back a week later, returned a list price of $1,435.51 for an economy seat. The same roundtrip ticket from Anchorage to Atlanta cost a penny less, at $1,435.50.
In other Anchorage-related route expansions, Icelandair said in August that it would make direct flights between Anchorage and Reykjavik from mid-May through mid-September. Last month, low-cost carrier JetBlue announced Anchorage-Seattle flights beginning May 17 at initial prices of $119 to $127.
