A tundra fire that was sparked near Dillingham on Nov. 2 continues to spread near the community of Manokotak.
Officials with the Division of Forestry said the Snake River separates the blaze and the community, so residents are not in danger and only experiencing drift smoke, despite rumors of an evacuation spreading.
Last week, the fire drew close to Dillingham’s hospital, where local volunteer firefighters fought to control it.
The firefighters ensured the safety of the hospital but let the blaze continue out of harm's way.
According to KDLG, the fire burned 10 miles of Tundra over the weekend.
