High winds combined with a lack of snow cover contributed to multiple fires in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley on Thursday.
Crews were still monitoring and mopping up hotspots in the area on Friday.
In a joint effort that began on Thursday, fire crews extinguished 11 fires that were caused or aided by the wind.
Four fire fighters were injured while battling the blazes, but their injuries were minor.
In total about 100 acres were scorched in the Mat-Su Borough.
Resident Angela Orman said she was lucky to get out of harm's way. "Probably spent half an hour running around, probably not grabbing the right things, but I did get the cats and the dog and the baby. I called my daughter's school and told them not to put her on the bus," Orman said.
Fire crews traveled from as far away as Fairbanks to respond to the fires.
