A two-vehicle crash in East Anchorage Friday afternoon left three people injured, temporarily closing part of Northern Lights Boulevard and diverting some Boniface Parkway traffic, according to local police.
APD spokesperson Anita Shell initially said the collision, at Northern Lights' intersection with Boniface near the Anchorage School District Education Building, was reported to police at 12:58 p.m.
In an email to Channel 2 Friday night, spokesperson Dani Myren said that while a report on the crash hadn't been finalized, three people were ultimately taken to local hospitals.
"(T)he initial report indicates a green Chevy Silverado was turning south from westbound Northern Lights onto Boniface when it collided with a blue Ford Explorer traveling east on Northern Lights through the intersection," Myren wrote.
Shell said a teenager suffered head injuries in the crash, and a female was in and out of consciousness.
Police closed eastbound lanes of Northern Lights between Wesleyan Drive and Boniface, as well as diverting northbound traffic on Boniface at the intersection through the Education Building’s parking lot. The intersection was reopened to traffic at about 3:30 p.m.
