On Monday evening, the Anchorage School District officially changed commands with Ed Graff, previously assistant superintendent of curriculum, replacing Dr. Jim Browder, who will retire in June.
At the ASD board meeting, members appointed Graff and Browder will now serve in an advisory position.
“As Dr. Browder has said, it’s not about one individual, but a collective group of individuals working together,” said ASD Supt. Ed Graff at Monday’s board meeting. “I believe Anchorage is a great place for us to do great things and I'm looking forward to realizing the potential of our district, so thank you.”
The ASD board said Graff is a well-respected and smart choice for leading the school district.
“I'm proud that you gave me the opportunity to be the superintendent here in anchorage, and as I said earlier, I wish that it had ended in about 7 or so years, unfortunately for me, things change,” said Dr. Jim Browder at the meeting, addressing the school board.
Browder’s compensation will continue until his official end date of June 14, 2013.
