GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.
New life is being pumped into Centerpointe Mall, located at the corner of 28th Street and East Beltline according to development company Lormax Stern.
The idea is to convert the former Eastbrook Mall into a 550,000 square foot Power Center.
“Sll of the storefronts from where Klingman’s was up until Dunham and from where Steve and Barry’s was up until Old Navy, all going to be brand new exterior store fronts now.” Christ Brochert, with Lormax Stern said on the phone.
Current tenants including T.J. Maxx, DSW, David’s Bridal and Men’s Warehouse will be expanding or moving into new locations at the site. Home Goods will be added to T.J. Maxx to help it expand from 33,000 square feet to 52,000 square feet, Brochert said.
Remaining at their current locations will be Nordstrom Rack, Jo Ann Fabrics, Golf Galaxy and Dunham’s.
Along with the change come new tenants, Lormax Stern’s site said. Those locations include ULTA, Rue 21, Five Below, Dots, World Market, Sleep Number and Vitamin Shop.
On Monday, March 19 and Tuesday, March 20, demolition of the old Klingman’s will take place, a company spokesperson told FOX 17.
One person, who has seen the change and survived it, is owner of Ladies Designer Outlet, Mary Arbanas.
“I have very loyal customers and everyday finding new ones.” Arbanas told FOX 17. “They did come and speak with me and I did sign another year lease, they want me to stay, where I don’t know I will not be in this location but I know I will be somewhere.” She added.
Many of the customers we spoke to were excited to see new life pumped into their local mall and welcome the jobs it will bring.
