Compact and cheap, netbooks were a category of laptop that created a lot of buzz a few years ago but flamed out because most users found the computers too cramped and underpowered.

Now when it comes to small and sleek laptops, Apple has captured most of the buzz with its MacBook Air laptop. 

Now PCs maker are getting into the game with Ultrabooks, laptops that are less than an inch thick and about 3 pounds. The Lenovo IdeaPad U300s ($1,200)  and Toshiba Portege Z835 ($900) appear to be the early Ultrabook leaders, but are they right for you?
