Sitka police say old human bones have been found inside the home of a 37-year-old man.
The Daily Sitka Sentinel (http://is.gd/NyRxnz) says officers carrying out a search warrant on a possible probation violation found the bones in a drawer inside the home of William R. Hammock.
Police Lt. Barry Allen says the bones found Tuesday apparently were from a small child who died many years ago.
The bones were photographed for analysis by the state medical examiner's office.
Police were called to Halibut Point Road to help investigate a possible probation violation by Hammock.
A search of Hammock's vehicle there turned up evidence of cocaine and methamphetamine possession, prompting a request for the search warrant at Hammock's Sawmill Creek Road home.
He was arrested on a petition to revoke probation.
