JUNEAU, Alaska—
The water temperature was a frigid 37 degrees and a brisk wind was blowing, but that didn't prevent close to 1,000 people from taking the plunge into Auke Bay in Juneau on New Year's Day.
The Juneau Empire says hundreds of hardy souls took the ocean plunge at the Auke Village Recreation Area to become official New Year Polar Dippers. This year's theme was "Living the Dream 2013."
