First National Bank Alaska has issued a warning about a cell phone scam targeting debit card customers in the Fairbanks and Healy areas.
Customers reported receiving an automated call on their cell phone informing them that their debit cards have been "locked" and will no longer work unless they provide personal information.
The caller asks the customer to press 1 to unlock their debit card after providing their card number.
Bank officials said customers should never give out their card number or personal information over the phone unless they initiate the call.
Alaskans who believe their information has been compromised by should immediately contact their bank.
