SALTON CITY — A 63-year-old Salton City man suffered head injuries described by the California Highway Patrol as major when his vehicle struck a dirt berm and rolled, authorities said Friday.
Kenneth A. Andrews was flown to Desert Regional Medical Center following the incident 4:55 p.m. Thursday, Highway Patrol Officer Jose Serrano said.
Andrews was heading west on North Marina Drive at an unknown rate of speed when he inexplicably veered off the right shoulder, prompted to correct his direction of travel, Serrano said.
But Andrews’ sharp turn to the left caused him to skid in his 2010 Dodge Avenger into a driveway and continue onto to an empty dirt lot, where the midsize sedan struck a berm and subsequently rolled over, Serrano said.
The crash is under investigation.
