FAIRBANKS, Alaska—
Three public defenders and a Superior Court judge are among six candidates nominated by the Alaska Judicial Council to fill a seat on the Alaska Court of Appeals.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports Gov. Sean Parnell will have 45 days to pick a replacement for retiring Chief Judge Robert Coats.
Palmer Superior Court Judge Eric Smith is one of the candidates.
Susan Carney, a supervising attorney at the Office of Public Advocacy in Fairbanks, was nominated.
Anchorage public defenders Majorie Allard and Douglas Moody and Sitka public defender Jude Pate were nominated.
Also nominated was Anchorage Solicitor General of Criminal Affairs Doug Kossler.
