A city official in Juneau says animal control officers are cracking down on irresponsible dog owners in city parks.
Parks and Landscape Superintendent George Schaff says there will be zero tolerance for dog owners who commit violations.
He tells KINY-radio (http://bit.ly/WBe2Xg) that effective immediately, animal control officers will issue citations up to $100 or order mandatory court appearances for anyone not cleaning up after their pets.
They also could be cited for not keeping dogs on a leash or under voice control.
He says there will be no warnings.
The municipality contracts with the Gastineau Humane Society to enforce animal control regulations.

I wonder what serious issues are being ignored, while we pay for this. Im sure there are many more crimes that are underfunded that could benefit from taxpayer money, but as long as the capital is tucked away from the rest of the state, who can stop it. We really need the capital to be moved to Anchorage where these politicians can directly face the people.
