A midday house fire in Juneau was contained to the attic space and roof, according to KATH-TV.

Capital City Fire Rescue responded shortly before noon to a house fire on 3900 block of View Drive.

2 adults and 2 children were at home when one of the adults saw flames in the ceiling near the chimney of their fireplace and called 911 as they left the house safely.

Multiple fire trucks responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze above the 2nd floor living room of the house.

Despite being hampered slightly by fresh snow, fire crews say they were lucky that the fire occurred during the day when residents were awake and there was light to fight the fire on the secluded lot.

Initial estimates put damages in the region of $30,000.
