The man who twice predicted the end of the world in 2011 and twice was wrong said he was embarrassed by the mistake. Harold Camping, a radio host and minister, claimed to have read clues in the bible that predicted the rapture first on May 21, and then again on October 21.
On a broadcast on his Family Radio network Tuesday, Camping said he was still searching for the answers that have eluded him and that the experience of being wrong has humbled him.
“I am checking my own notes more carefully than ever,” Camping said. He later added “At least in a minimum way,we are learning to walk more humble before God. We are ready to cry out and weep before God, “Oh Lord, You have the truth, we don’t have it.”
Camping raised more than $80 million in donations. Before his May 21 rapture prediction, many of his followers gave up their life savings.
