SEATTLE—
The passenger-only ferries, Skagit and Kalama, will are heading to Tanzania.
The Washington State Department of Transportation sold the two ferries to Scope Community Consultants Ltd of Port Coquitlam, B.C., for $400,000.
They’ll be loaded on a cargo ship to Tanzania, where they’ll provide ferry service between the mainland and Zanzibar.
The ferries, built in 1989, have been docked and inactive since September 2009.
