The Blue and White Scrimmage was a success if you ask Coach Garrett and his staff. Everyone says that the players reacted well to the situations they were put in but there is still plenty of work to be done on both sides of the ball.
Tony Romo threw for 3 touchdowns, but I think the one he threw to Dez should have been downed at the 15. Orlando Scandrick could have tackled Bryant but tackling was not really allowed when the starters were on the field. It was pretty clear the defense still has plenty to learn about Rob Ryan's system and they confirmed that during interviews.
Just a couple more days left here in San Antonio. Then it's back to Dallas. DeMarcus Ware said today that he doesn't think the starters will play much in Thursday's preseason opener. But we will see. I'm still excited to finally have a game to talk about.

The Cowboys will hold their first scrimmage of training camp later today at the Alamodome.
Yesterday, Coach Garrett said everyone will participate but the younger guys will get most of the reps. We are nearing the end of camp in San Antonio and today is a huge day if you are one of the undrafted free agents trying to make the team.
We'll have highlights and reactions from the the scrimmage tonight at 9:30 on Inside Sports. See ya then.

I'm on the tail end of this ten day Training Camp expedition and I'm starting to think how big of a deal The Dallas Cowboys really are. I'm sitting in the San Antonio Airport and look at all the "business" type travelers here. Andy and myself have done something few get to do and that's cover sports, big time sports every day. While, the Cowboys have struggled here in recent years the fan base is still as strong as ever.
The team PR staff sends out an attendance count from every "night" session of practice and there's been about 4,000 to 5,000 fans in the stands every single day. Pretty cool if you think about it. And to top of my time here,I got to sit down and do a one on one interview withTony Romo, whom I thanked for taking Candice Crawford off the market so I can get a job in my hometown of Dallas.
You can catch that tonight on The 33 News at 9 and the full version Sunday on Inside Sports. Andy got to do a one on one with Jason Witten and Dave Campo. Just so neat to be able to share with our viewers these guys who play sports for a living.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that while I'm extremely tired and beaten right now, I've had a blast in San Antonio the past week and a half. Andy will be with the team till the end of camp on Tuesday. But this just begins our bangup coverage of America's Team in the upcoming season.
Stay tuned folks, this is only just the beginning.

The dog days of training camp are here...well atleast for me. I think i've said it a couple days ago, but there isnt that much drama surrounding the Cowboys this season...atleast not yet. Today we get to speak withTony Romo and I'm thinking..Is he good enough to be a Super Bowl winning QB?
We all think he's a good guy. We all know he can sling it with the best of them. His 95.5 career quarterback rating, fourth in NFL history, proves that. But will he ever win the big one? The fan in me says yes, he will. I held out faith that Dirk and the Mavs would win a title and finally, in the most unlikely of seasons, it came true. Nobody had the Mavs anywhere near the radar of being champs this last year. Kind of like the Cowboys this year.
Everyone has the Cowboys projected at 8-8 or 9-7 at best. I'm right there with those people, however IF and that's a big if...IFTony Romo can return to his Pro Bowl form, the Cowboys have a chance. Again, I reference the Mavs and their playoff run. They had as good a chance as anyone in the postseason and got hot at just the right time.
A few years ago when Eli Manning and the Giants won...they weren't the best team, they just peaked at the right time. I hope that happens this season, but I'll see what Romo thinks about it today. Keep up with our bangup coverage here from San Antonio. TWITTER: @sportsdonkey and Andy: @andyscholes33

While I'm sure that everyone missed our amazing blogging skills, Cowboys practice was back in action today. The team looked refreshed after a mandatory 24 hours off. We asked some of the guys if the "dog days" have hit and while they're tired, they all said they were excited to get back to work.
There isn't much buzz around this year's team and for good reason...they were 6-10 a year ago and are returning with 10 starters on one of the league's worst defenses. BUT...they all seem energized for the potential this season.
It should be fun to watch if this team can sneak up on people. And coming up tonight at 9, I take a look at some of the less popular guys on the team. The Kickers!! Good guys and good competition thus far between all of them. Until tomorrow.

Cowboys Camp is moving right along and today the team is underway with the "padded" portion of the day. Because of the new CBA rules, training camp lacks a lot of drama and intensity in my opinion.
Jason Garrett was asked earlier today at his press conference if he thinks the new rules are good. Garrett did his best to dance around the question, but it was clear that he can't stand the lack of physicality.
Let's hope all the "teaching" that's going on is enough for the Cowboys to be successful this season. On a side note, all the Dallas radio stations are here today, causing for a circus-like scene during interview opportunities.
But keep up with Andy and I here on the Training Camp blog and of course on twitter..Until next time.

Day #5 has a pretty little bow on it here at Cowboys Training Camp inside The Alamodome. It's been quite a start to Jason Garrett's first, full season as head coach.
Camp has been a bit of a surprise to me. Not exactly what I thought it would be. Thought there would be a little more drama everyday, but I think that's because of the mindset Garrett has instilled in this team. It's all about business. Many of the players have said they were "humbled" from last year's season. Terrence Newman said it was the "worst thing that's ever happened to him"...in football of course.
I think it's great these guys have nightmares about last season, because it was downright awful. Obviously there were several contributing factors, but I feel this team is on the comeback trail.
Yes, the Eagles have been big winners in the Free Agency market, but you don't win games just because of free agency. Ask the Redskins. The Eagles will be the team to beat for sure.
Ok enough rambling. Coming up tonight on Inside Sports, Andy and I have quite a show planned for you. We have exclusive interviews with Bradie James and Jason Witten who sat down with us to discuss all things Cowboys. Plus we have Chris Schneider from 105.3 FM "The Fan".
So get your popcorn. ALL topics will be covered tonight. Join us.
