The Kodiak ice rink damaged by an arson fire should be ready for skaters next month.
Jay-Brant Global Contractors is handling the repairs and project manager William Waldorf tells the Kodiak Daily Mirror that the rink will be reopen in mid-December if the project remains on schedule.
The Aug. 1 fire started in discarded packing materials.
It spread to the rink and caused more than $1 million in damage to the building's roof, dasher boards, walls and team boxes.
No one has been charged in the case.
Waldorf says repairs were delayed when the Kodiak City Council took longer than anticipated to approve a contract. Waiting for supplies and materials also held up repairs.
Workers began roof work Monday.
