Israel Keyes is currently in federal custody awaiting trial on charges that he kidnapped and killed 18-year-old Samantha Koenig earlier this year.

In court documents filed Wednesday, Keyes' attorneys said they have been unable to consult with Keyes adequately for the current timeline of the case, and said that the government's "repeated contact with Mr. Keyes over the objection of undersigned counsel" is interfering with moving forward.

On Monday, the Defense filed a motion to extend a deadline for them to suppress statements made by Keyes. Both the defense and government agreed that October 31st was a suitable date, but the court set October 16th as the due date.

Keyes' lawyers said that because "Mr. Keyes is being investigated on other matters," they must be fully informed about other criminal investigations and allegations in order to know which statements may need to be suppressed, and to adequately advise their client.

WCAX, a Vermont TV station, said a source tells the station that Keyes is the prime suspect in the murders of Bill and Lorraine Currier, who disappeared from their Vermont home in June of 2011.

Their remains have not been found and Keyes has not been charged in the case.
