A Fairbanks man shot another man and then turned the gun on himself and died Thursday morning, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers identified the shooter as 20-year-old Christopher Carter of Fairbanks and the victim as 21-year-old Philip Villa.
The double shooting happened around 8:46 p.m. Wednesday in an apartment complex in the University west area.
Carter and Villa were transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and Carter succumbed to his injuries Thursday morning.
KTVF, a Fairbanks NBC Affiliate, said Carter was an Army soldier and Villa is an Air guardsman, according to an unnamed source. KTVF citing a source that is said to be Carter's brother-in-law said Villa was in critical condition Thursday morning.
