Alaska Democrats are up with a new website, hailing as "Senate heroes" Democrats who opposed Gov. Sean Parnell's oil tax-cut plans.
The site, standingupforalaska.com, features a cartoon that refers to Parnell as "Captain Zero" and his plans to cut oil taxes as being thwarted by the so-called "Senate heroes."
The cartoon strip features Democratic Sens. Bill Wielechowski, Hollis French, Joe Thomas and Joe Paskvan, all of whom could face tough re-election bids.
It says Parnell is counting on this year's elections to give him control of the Senate and says he thinks he will be able to pass any oil tax bill he wants.
Parnell has said he'd like to see the Senate's Democratic-led bipartisan coalition broken up, though he's said his motivation is about more than oil taxes.
