ANCHORAGE, Alaska—
A new study shows that one in two women in Anchorage report being sexually assaulted or victims of intimate partner violence over the course of their life. The study was conducted by the Justice Center at the University of Anchorage Alaska and surveyed 710 women between April and June 2011. Results showed 50.9% of women in the municipality of Anchorage experienced sexual assault or intimate partner violence during their lifetime, that's 54,313 women.
42.2% experienced intimate partner violence during their life, with 8.2% reporting incidents during 2011.
29.6% of women say they've been sexually assaulted during their life, 1.4% say it happened during 2011.
